Good read, agree with a lot of articles, however Kony needs to be stopped, we can't fix all these problems at once :). Not degrading that point though, invisiblechildren are not the redeemers, they're just people who are trying to change something. Regarding their portrayal of Kony, i think in the latter part of that piece he actually contradicts himself:
portraying Kony — a brutal man, to be sure — as uniquely awful, a Kurtz-like embodiment of evil.” He’s certainly evil, but exaggeration and manipulation to capture the public eye is unproductive, unprofessional and dishonest.
and...
provoking a ferocious response and increased retaliative slaughter.
Regardless, great article, his final point is also very valid, people should be supporting the removal of Kony, not so much the aspect/idea of social activism, i.e supporting social movement of a massive (worldwide) pledge against Kony.
But let’s keep it about Joseph Kony, not KONY 2012.
Its touching, but has anyone actually researched and checked to see if this is not a publicity stunt trying to make quick cash.
Never go on someone elses opinion without actually confirming things for yourself.

But personally this tyrant needs bringing to justice.

has it in mind.

This story when I first attempted to watch it, I didn't know much about it so I closed it about 2 minutes in, about an hour later I watched it again thinking "Hm.. Let me just watch it, since everyone is going on about" then I was like, "KONY 2012"... Shared, Tweeted.

People like this should not be in this world, therefore that's why we have people like the invisiblechildren to stop people like him, and that will not stop at anything.

I just saw the film and tbh yea it moved me its a sad state of affairs for this to be happening, but on the other hand if poeple r going to stop this then what bout all the other conflicts that are happening do we plan to stop them aswell - perfect example Mugabe Zimbabwe starving over 300,00 people just so he satsy strong in he's regime but no one speaks about it, the video from syria after ohms was getting bombed the guy who made that video wanted UN to come into the country to stop it is now dead. as much as many people put video's ;like this on the net - more needs to be done if ur going to stop KONY, then y not stop all the other dictator;s out there that are recking people lives all over the world.

this is my opoion on it anyway - i dont beleive in war but i do believe in stopping things that are wrong on so many level's

Thanks

It's not that high a percentage, but you do have a fair point.

68% (I think, cba finding the graph) goes on advertising. Only 32% actually goes to helping the "invisible children".

Re-watching the video after doing some further reading reveals that all they're doing it advertising more and more, and are not actually doing anything to help. They're asking for military action, but that means killing the children in Kony's army? Furthermore they're asking for military advisors to train the Ugandan army, who are just as bad as Kony for things such as rape and murder. Meanwhile, Kony hasn't been in Uganda for 6 years now.

I find it quite funny how people get sucked in by this so easily, would like to see an army of hipsters going out to Uganda :D
