I'm looking to invest in a new CPU, don't know anything about CPU's so I'd like some help.

Looking to stay on AMD, my mobo supports AM2+ and AM3(?), which CPU would you guys reccomend? I would like it to beast CSS, don't really have a price range.

Intel is definitely the way to go atm. I'm using AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition currently, but i wish i waited for the Intel processors to drop in price.

If you are sticking on AM2+ / AM3 motherboard don't get bulldozer. Get Phenom 965 X4 or 960T (which can be unlocked from X4 to X6) or a 1090T for X6. The six-core processors won't gain any serious benefit in gaming. However, if you do any video rendering or multi-tasking to a high degree get an X6. If you want it purely for CS:S, just stick with the X4 get an aftermarket cooler and overclock it.
