Incorrect. Megaupload was shut down mainly because of Megabox. Megaupload also didn't take enough measures to PREVENT illegal file-sharing, the "report file" link simply removed the indexed URL and they didn't actually remove the file from the server. If official requests were made files were removed.

Incorrect, they maintain the file servers therefore have access to any file you upload. However I've read they will actively attempt to permanently remove illegal files.

US government shut it down because of copyright infringement. They never made an official request for the material to be removed. They simply shut it down for facilitating millions of illegal/free downloads of copyrighted material.

I like the 50gb of the data that your are provided with. Just hope they will work on an application like dropbox now so when i'm in work I can access the files from home.
