I know there is another thread, but i'm not gonna necro it.

Basically as the title says, i get really bad lag in the evenings, not every evenings but most. It's rather on and off, i am currently with Virgin Media, during the day my internet is fine, however at night it's terrible, i can't play CSS (400+ ping). And when i talk on vent/mumble my ping spikes even higher. My current connection is 8mbs iirc. I've run a virus scan, nothing. I've shut down every thing that could leach bandwidth, nada. It's not any of the other computers (2 others) on the network causing it so idk. It's been happening for nearly a year now, it's driving me mad >:(

tried rr'ing the router or even getting a new 1 as overheating router might be the cause, if not ring up :)

That's peak-time congestion (AKA **** ISP who cant manage its usage/line and wont expand into new hardware) Had that problem over here for god knows how long but I got it sorted from getting a business connection (Pricey yes, But no congestion :<)

The reason you tell them your going to sky is threaten them with a competitor. It may work, It may not. The ISP knows the congestion is there however, I doubt they will put you on a business line just to keep you as a customer.
