We are currently renting a VPS server, which is effectively the same as a dedicated server, just virtual, however its all dependent on whats specs you are after, however our one has been running great since we got it, very good pricing, rapid service, and a very easy control panel and ftp access for you to sort out whatever you are wanting to host!
will have a look cheers.
Killer Creations are good, can be pricey though. GTX are terrible if you have any problems!
Don't go with OVH, they'll only cause more trouble than gain. Surely they're very cheap, but if your server just get one small (even a 10Mbps) (D)DoS attack, they'll shut everything down, require you to re-install the hardware and so on. Been there, done that.
Hetzner is decent, although they also shut you down after a few large-scale (D)DoS attacks, surely the port is shared so this is understandable.
It also depends on your budget.
Where do Hetzner have there servers located?
I'm after a dedi server, ideally 14 slot. Budget is £25-30 per month, dependent upon what is bundled with it. Would like TS and .org ideally, but I know that can cost.
We have 15 odd members, so via a split between the admins and dedicated members it could be done.
Any advice would be sick. UK based clan, but a large diversion of nationalities.
Thanks in advance, En!gma, <3
Dedicated server is different to just a normal server mate! - A Dedicated server is a specific box, thus allowing you to host many game and voice servers!
^as said in first post, pingperfect.com - very good servers, UK hosting, and voice servers also! Our game servers that we have from there have been excellent, and any potential mods you want to put on and very simple!
He is asking for dedicated providers, pingperfect.com is not a dedicated provider. They provide VPSs which have no where near the capability of a dedi.

I think you need to look up more closly what a dedi does, it does not come as 'slots'. With a dedi you can install multiple game servers, voice servers, web servers etc etc. However i do not think you will have the knowledge to do so reading some stuff on here.

You need to surf around the web and look, if you have knowledge on how to use a dedi server via putty, debian commands CentOS etc etc then you find it pretty easy. Anyone can recomend a host but it is down to you to use it.
Or you could go off what everyone else has said and go with a gaming VPS, do NOT get one from very games because the last 4-5 games i have had on seperate ones have lagged bad during some stage, a few here if they read this will agree with me.
To be fair Cakey, I honestly thought the same with regards to VPS's not have the capability, my co-leader used to run his own server hosting company back in the day, and we were both very surprised at the performance of the VPS. We originally did not want one, and wanted to stick to a normal dedicated server, due to the same thinking as you in that the performance would not be as good, all be it dependent on what processor your getting on the VPS, but we went with it, and its surpassed our expectations!

Also remember that (most) VPS's are shared, my recommendation would be getting CentOS (Quick & easy to learn) & then get Xen. Then it's all dedicated. It's just like a small dedicated server. OpenVZ VPS's should only be used for websites, TS & those sort of non CPU demanding processes.
NO! CentOS IS BAD! Naughty Gasur, naughty
Heard a few bad things about CentOS. Either way, depends on what you want to do with the dedi/vps. Indeed a lot of shared, mine is not so thats fine! xD - But still very good, so far we have 1 TS, and 7 servers, cod1-cod2-cod4 and with space for another 8. :)
Space for another 8 maybe but I wouldn't put to many more on, especially on a VPS.
Its alright, as we upgraded the specs a little bit, thus allowing more space. But again its all dependent on what VPS you get!
