ok, so not sure if this belongs here or in offtopic, but because it's happening in source, I'll just leave it here for now. Basically I've been using on board sound for like evar! But I always thought I used to get weird like fps drop spikes when I was shooting, My net_graph wouldnt record a loss in fps it just felt like it was being really choppy when I'd shoot. So I dug out an on sound card I had bought a while back but never installed.
It's a sound blaster x-fi titanium fatality. I installed it ok, installed drivers, everything appears to be working ok, but now my problem of fps drop when shooting has seemed to of gotten worse, and now my net_graph is actually recording a drop in fps when I'm for example shooting in smokes...

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this, I get the feeling I may of not set the card up properly or something.

Thanks in advance!

Might not be due to your sound card. Take a screenshot of net_graph 3 (I think that's the one with the actual graph) while you're shooting in smoke and post it here.

I haven't yet uninstalled in bios as I've been using my on-board sound for my mic as I couldn't get the sound card mic port working =/ I'll take an ss now! Will not idsabling the onboard have any effect on performance you think?

Those two, usually before install the sound card id get pretty constant 299 fps, was capped at 299. It would rarely drop at all, and when it did it was maybe only 20-30 fps drop.

Now as you can see nearly 200 fps drop in a couple of smokes =/
