Hey guys, I was wondering what the most cost efficient server host is.
At first I used to stick with YCN-Hosting, since you could get a CS:S war server for a fiver. But what me and my clan found, was that it would often get laggy and the reg wouldn\'t be great.

After browsing the net, i\'ve bumped into a German server host. G-portal.de.
I can get a CS:S war server off them for 3.50 a month!!

Basically, Cost IS an issue with most of my team being slightly skint at the moment, however I\'m willing to pay that little bit extra if it means the server is better quality etc.

RTL are terrible, verygames are alright, multiplay 2k fps are sick

Thing is, me and all of my mates consider RTL as being absolutely rubbish and regless. Since that\'s what we always get on them! But then I get people telling me they\'re good :O
So far the cheapest are YCN (5 pounds 100tick), GTX (5.50pounds 100tick) & E-frag (5.50pounds 66tick).
Thing is, after the update the maximum is 66tick. So will it make a difference if I purchase a 66 or 100 tick server?

That\'s why I\'m asking if it makes a difference. There are quite a few server hosts which I\'ve popped across who make people pay more for a 100 tick server. So I just wanted to know whether I would actually be better off buying a 100 tick server - despite 66 tick being the maximum.

That\'s right and wrong at the same time, half the time it is your aim but it can be the server, some server providers claim they deliver everything they other... say 1000fps 66 tick and low pings. well some servers providers make fake claims, claiming 5000fps and stuff like that, well if they can provide that amount of fps the server would be heavily unstable causing reg issues the same as have a server that cant provide what it should be.
It could also be client side via rates etc, but if you own the server then you can easily fix rates via sv_maxcmdrate 66 / sv_mincmdrate 66 + sv_maxupdaterate 66 / sv_minupdaterate 66 and sv_minrate 25000 / sv_maxrate 25000 But those all depend on the players PC and Internet provider and ability\'s.

To be honest hsf, Me and my clan barely complain about reg. Since most of the time, it is our aim.
However, we want to choose a reliable server host to ensure the server aint laggy. I\'ve been with a few providers in the past (such as RTL) where the server would jiggle around everything despite restarting it several times...

Well, you seem to know more than the customer service did at RTL sam..
But I did hear that the RTL management changed, and this was before the change so...

RTL Have always had shot registration issues as-well as other things, they also claim they can boost a server 2 8000fps which isn\'t possible.
