Hi, My team was one of the first 6 to sign up to the Community Cup. We have a full squad yet people who have signed up after us have been selected. Could someone please explain to me how this works? I think cups should have maybe a group stage before hand or something to allow all those who want to participate to do so? Just a thought.

I agree i mean i dont have a team atm but i see grillzee's opinion i mean theres literly 100's of teams and the admin's do the best they can but i mean its just the same old teams over and over bieng selected it gives no other team a chance this isn't a rage at the admin's it's just the fact it should be sorted out for new teams coming in i understand that it aint an easy job but can someone explain how it works because it makes no sense , or make the cup bigger?

You're more likely to be included in a cup if your team is active in the corresponding ladder, or has played in a previous cup without defaulting their games. Apart from that I think it's just random choice. Have to agree with
 Kieu
though, making the cups bigger would make a lot more sense.

There are teams (not saying names) that have played just as many games as us in the ladder but have still been chosen. A randomized selection would explain it. I'm not flaming or having a go in anyway, just made this thread to voice that i think it was a bit unfair and ways to improve the current system to make it better for everyone. Constructive criticism :) . Defo. think UNGL would benefit from having a group stage before the cup or even a bigger cup as Phant and Kieu said.
New teams need an incentive to join these kinds of events and this is the way to go about it imo.

Why not have two cups, a qualifier cup with a first come, first served basis and then a second 32 player cup with 16 seeds and 16 qualifiers?

how can they get cup experience if like you said thats what its based off? , i agree it will but hard work and a long job to make like a 40 team cup etc , but isn't that the idea is cups are ment to be hard work i mean a team doesnt get noticed unless they play in a cup , yet they cant get in a cup :S

Its just wierd to be fair .

I see your point and thats true i agree with it. Why not then alternate the teams that can play in the cup. I.e. a previous cup team cannot play in a forthcoming one?

If its as you say cup experience then how are new teams supposed to breakthrough

Perhaps being active in the ladder should be something required for entrance into cups. It should help further ladder activity while not affecting the cup negatively.

If it's too much hassle to have larger cups regularly, why not get more admins that are dedicated to just that, organizing cups? It would make sense and it would bring more interest to the league if there would be regular cups that everyone can play in. The regularity would ensure that in time, there will be less and less defaults, because people would get used to the time-ranges and be on and play... at least in theory.

Yeah i agree with that

 Phantom
but i mean isn't it the point that teams that are trying to make a name for them self are struggling unless they join an org that is known? i mean there's teams that have just played cup games and that's it.

then i would suggest a "newbies" cup made especially for teams that have never played in a cup before. and maybe run it 3 times a year.

3 times a year seems too far apart. Perhaps something like that every other month?

32 player = 5 rounds, 64 player = 6 rounds, etc.
You can do a 64 round cup in a week, 2 rounds a day, 3 days a week. You can do that very easily and you can use a sort of "black dot" system, where teams that join the cup, but don't show get blacked out and lose reputation, so they lose access to the next cup and just get weeded out in general.
2 hours really isn't that big of a time investment, tbch.

In my previous post i mentioned a team that has had only game of ladder experience and is a mix team. Also, correct me if i'm wrong they've had no previous cup experience. Don't like dropping names but WIN6.

And yeah

 DazzyJ
thats what i ment by that reply , i wasn't clear enough sorry :).

But if you think you will lack the resource's when there is 9 admin's bud , i mean i know not everyone are there to manage event's but it would be handy to say if you wanted to make a biggggggggggg cup , this is mearly a suggestion , but it does seem like a few people agree and trooper i agree that's is probably the best idea i have heard so far
