Just got DayZ installed after a f*** on with installing and updating it, played it once so far and spent my first 5-10minutes running away from zombies as i decide to run up to one and see why it was crawling on the floor like a chicken. So ye wasn't the best of starts don't know how you equipped gear or where its ment to be basically i am an utter noob at it and just looking for others who are interested in a game or to of it, Whether your a new player like my self or a more experienced player looking to lend a hand.

Tips from one of the greatest ARMA/OFP players ever (me).

1. Go on DayzDB.com
2. Don't play it like COD, try and use your brain instead of urge to kill people.
3. Find good loot.
4. Head North/Head into Cherno/Elek
5. Trust nobody, Kill everybody.
6. Do not love your gear, you WILL lose it to bugs and bandits and **** like that, just make the best of it.

Use the maps (Dayzdb.com etc) and make for barns/Deer stands, guarateed to find at the very least a hatchet or two :D

It'll be in your inventory. Hit G. Find the Hatchet picture, it will be below the pistol section. Right click and it should say remove from inventory or something, Make sure you have no rifle equipped, it will equip the fireaxe as a primary armament, cycle firemode with the F key until you get to hatchet then make sure you reload it, you should now have like 9000 uses/ammo, this will appear in top right but not in inventory, to store it away simply right click on it in your gear menu and send it back to the tools thingy.

Hatchet is great for dropping zeds, don't bother with crowbar, the hatchet is best used when the zeds run upto you, time it and you can kill them in one hit before they get a swipe off at you.
